The Specialized Classroom Management workshop introduces you to key critical components of the Boys Town education Model® for those looking to reduce disruptive behaviors. This multi-tiered, school-based intervention program – combined with a comprehensive motivation system – is designed for students needing tertiary support, providing them with the positive behavior support they need to succeed.
BOYSTOWN Training will take place at Sterling High School, 407 W. Broadway St.; Sterling, CO 80751 Elementary Teachers will be located in the Cafeteria and Library.
School counselors from each district will engage in professional learning directly related to their specialization. Participants will receive required training, conduct counselor meetings, and bring in presenters who can deliver content-specific information to the counselor cohort.
Career and technical educators (business, family and consumer sciences, and agriculture) will engage in professional learning directly related to their specialization. Within their individualized cohorts, participants will receive training from the Colorado Department of Education, planned activities that are educator-led, work-based learning training, and individualized training for their cohort.

CTE-FACS will be meeting with Donna Brady Lawler from the NJC Early Childhood department to learn about the program. This will give the FACS more information on what they need to be teaching at their level to prepare students for Early Childhood programs at the next level.

CTE - FACS will be taking a field trip to Sidney, Nebraska.
This three-day workshop will cover a variety of elements related to teaching diverse learners. We will start with culture, language, and literacy and then move to easy-to-implement, strength-based strategies designed to increase challenge and engagement for all learners. The final day will cover the importance of language of the discipline, linguistically and culturally inclusive assessment, and how to increase authentic connection. Hours can be used to fulfill the CLDE re-licensure requirement.
LOCATION: NJC Campus, Hays Student Center Ballroom
Participants will further their current understanding, comfortability, and confidence to implement these research-based strategies into their daily instruction. This training would provide explicit instruction and modeling of scientifically-based reading instructional strategies and methods for teachers to observe and practice. Principals of early literacy are welcome to attend this training and will have the opportunity for additional training opportunities.
This session will take place in Hays Art Gallery (TAG) (NOTE THE ROOM CHANGE). Please bring laptops.
This early childhood cohort will look at implementing data collection requirements that provide information about preschool outcomes to impact children’s learning. Topics will include how teams can work together as professional learning communities, ensure that children with disabilities show progress that is measured from the time they enter special education until they leave preschool, and ensure that lesson plans are designed for every child’s needs, including those who may be gifted.
